Repair Specification
WHAT IS A REPAIR SPECIFICATION
Multiple-use major repairs that do not come from the DAH, and do not specifically identify serial numbers of all the products or parts currently in need of the repair.
Major Repair:
That, if improperly done, might appreciably affect weight, balance, structural strength, performance, powerplant operation, flight characteristics, or other qualities affecting airworthiness;
or
That is not done according to accepted practices or cannot be done by elementary operations.
BENEFIT OF REPAIR SPECIFICATION:
Repair Specifications can provide the capability of repairing or replacing Original Equipment Manufacturer components with equal to or better Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Products, or repair not identified in ICA. This allows for damaged parts to be restored back to their applicable airworthiness requirements. This process provides Customers with additional options by reducing the obsolescence of articles/units in their fleet labeled Beyond Economical Repair (BER) and reducing on long lead times.
